“A Senior Sensitive Service” is the youngest division of its parent company, Golden West Moving Inc., which is a full service local and interstate moving and storage company located in Huntington Beach, Ca. Three years ago this April the founder and president, Peter Yoss, decided that the company should become involved in the relocation of their senior citizens in a manner that was much more involved than the normal every day moving process.
Today’s Senior population is growing daily. The Baby Boomers are now at a retirement place in their lives and beyond. After years of working, raising a family and paying mortgages many seniors have already chosen to, are in the process of, or are thinking about reducing their sphere of living and downsizing. The process of downsizing after years of living in one home and the prospect of leaving a life of total independence can be unsettling. In today’s world many elderly no longer have the convenience of living close to their children. The hectic pace of life makes it hard for children who have families of their own or demanding work schedules to be there in the capacity needed to make the relocation process as smooth as possible.
“A Senior Sensitive Service" was created to assist the relocating senior in all possible ways, just as family would. The service begins with meeting with the client(s) in their home, discussing the needs, concerns and process which is about to take place, and gaining their confidence in knowing that there are caring, kind and very capable people there to help them get from where they are living now to the Senior community, residence, assisted living home or even just a smaller independent living situation. The basic concept begins with assisting with creating a new familiar home with the treasures and belongings that will be part of their new life. Through the process of paring out, packing, moving, unpacking and putting away, the comfort of home begins the first moment that the senior enters the new residence and finds except for the shape of the residence, all that is familiar is ready for them complete with furniture placed correctly, beds made, items from their previous cabinets and draws familiarly in place, pictures and mirrors and TV’s hung, and the tooth brush waiting. A long life of building for the days of retirement and comfort certainly deserves the caring service of “A Senior Sensitive Service."
